The golf courses in New Zealand have taken the world of golf by storm. Have a look through the Golf New Zealand featured golf courses below.

The unique feature of the Carrington Club golf course is that, although it has an oceanside location, it looks and plays like an "inland golf" course, complete with rolling hills, vales, and natural water hazards. The resultant effect is the challenging play of a rolling inland golf course but with the beautiful ocean views of its seaside location.

The Bay of Islands, one of New Zealand 's most scenic areas now has a golf course of world class. Without doubt one of the most spectacular and superbly designed golf courses in the world to come up in the last 20years.

Spectacular finishing holes, ocean views, rolling terrain and being designed by one of the world's great golf course designers, Robert Trent Jones II, all combine to make the Gulf Harbour Country Club one of the most exciting golf layouts in New Zealand.

The Lakes Resort has one of New Zealand's newest golf resort layouts and is situated on the pristine Coromandel Peninsula only 90 minutes away from Auckland. Set in a sun drenched valley surrounded by forests, this 6171 metre par 71 layout is both testing and rewarding for all levels of golfers. The area is visually stunning and the surroundings feature an abundance of local wetland wildlife in this pristine native valley.

Wairakei International was built by the New Zealand government's Tourist Hotel Corporation in 1970. Spreading over 450 acres of natural rolling land the design was overseen by one of the most impressive combination of golf course architects ever seen at that time. Commander John Harris, Michael Wolveridge and 5 times British Open winner, Peter Thompson all combined to produce New Zealand 's first internationally recognised championship course.

The Kinloch Club has been designed by the one and only Jack Nicklaus and his Golf Course design team. It is the only Jack Nicklaus design of any type in New Zealand and the only Jack Nicklaus "Signature Course" [his very best designs] in Australasia.

Cape Kidnappers sits above towering cliffs with every hole having a view of the Pacific ocean. Parts of the design incorporate several picturesque fairways along the edge of the cliff tops, with greens situated where any ball that badly misses will plunge down into the ocean.

Playable year-round, the course meanders around a succession of spring fed lakes and trout filled streams with uninterrupted views of the spectacular Southern Alps. There are four tee positions to suit players of all abilities. Relax in the Sprig Bar or Lakes Restaurant overlooking the 18th after the game.

The Terrace Downs Resort is located about one hour's drive from Christchurch at the beginning of the high country on the fringe of the Canterbury Plains. Built on the edge of the Rakaia Gorge, the course was designed by David Cox and built by David and the Terrace Downs team. Canadian designer Sid Puddicombe, who later designed the Lake Resort in the North Island also helped with the course architecture.

The Jacks Point layout was designed by local course architects John Darby and Partners. The absolutely brilliant result has given them international recognition to this wonderful piece of modern day golf architecture.

Set amidst a spectacular alpine amphitheatre, strategic use of water and sand traps ensure exciting and demanding golf. Measuring 6,412 metres (7,013 yards) from the back tees the design emphasises the natural features of the site, each hole having its own particular identity in terms of both strategy and landscape setting.

"James - just a few words from Scotland to thank you for arranging a great golfing holiday in New Zealand. All 7 golf courses we played (3 in North Island 4 in South Island ) were of a high standard and arrangements - everything went without a hitch. The great golf combined with some awesome scenery and plenty of sunshine made it a memorable trip. Hope to manage to come back in the not too distant future."
