ABOUT

NEW ZEALAND GOLF

" We have used Golf New Zealand for an escorted golf tour and a self drive golf tour. James and his team really look after their guests and my wife and I would recommend them to anyone planning a New Zealand golf trip. Better value, less hassle and more fun than doing it on your own."

Bill and Geraldine Porteous Gold Coast, Australia

New Zealand has been blessed with incredible golf courses as it has been blessed with incredible beauty. The food, is great, diverse and inexpensive and the wines becoming internationally acclaimed.

New Zealand is one of the most safe, scenic and diverse Touring countries in the world. As it is small, the traveller can experience many different vistas without travelling far. The same is true for golf. You may be playing on a course that has snow capped mountains around it and only two hours away you can play a cliff side links course. The scenery you will experience at the course and on your travels will not be forgotten.

New Zealand is not heavily populated and the golf courses are usually pleasantly uncrowded. No rushing here. Similarly driving or Touring in Coaches is a pleasure due to the lack of traffic and well organised roads.

New Zealanders are very friendly and helpful towards the traveller, especially in the Golf Industry. All overseas visitors are invited to share all facilities on offer at all Golf and Country Clubs and all Golf Resorts. This means you are invited to play off the club members tees at all times.

The best time to play golf in New Zealand is in the warmer months between September and May. Being in the Southern Hemisphere these are the warmer times of year. The average temperature in these periods is 18 to 25 degrees Celcius. In saying that the courses are open all year round and the locals play throughout the winter.

Most golf courses in New Zealand have a "soft spike" policy. Motorised carts or hand pull buggies are available at all major courses. Most visiting golfers bring their own clubs and shoes.

You can hire a car in New Zealand if you are over 21 and have held an English speaking country license for 12 months or longer. Non English speaking countries must have International Driving License.
