The tournament quality 18 hole Carrington Club golf course was officially opened on December 15, 2003 and designed by American golf course designer Matt Dye.
The unique feature of the Carrington Club golf course is that, although it has an oceanside location, it looks and plays like an "inland golf" course, complete with rolling hills, vales, and natural water hazards. The resultant effect is the challenging play of a rolling inland golf course but with the beautiful ocean views of its seaside location.
The course is 6146 metre's (7267 yards) in length, par 72, and encompasses a variety of terrains from rolling vales to challenging water hole's. The course is designed to accommodate golfers of all abilities and offers a great variety of hole play, from one of the longest par 5's in New Zealand 605 metre's (667 yards), to one of the shortest par 3's at 113 metre's (132 yards) over water.
Carrington golf course is sited so as to provide a variety of vistas to the golfer. The course is located between sweeping ocean views to the north and east, and hill side vineyards of Karikari Estate to the south. The Black Angus herd of Carrington Farms grazes on gently rolling pasture lands to the east and west of the golf course. To the north are wetlands, planted with native trees and flora and containing a large lake which is home to many native birds.
Spectacular views of the golf course, wetlands, beach, and ocean beyond are visible from the clubhouse and lounge complex. The clubhouse is sited on a high ridge in the middle of the golf course in order to take full advantage of the unique combination of outlooks.
Carrington is a lodge, golf club, vineyard and 3000 acre Black Angus stud farm located on the Karikari Peninsula, in Northland on the North Island of New Zealand. Carrington's facilities include an ocean side, tournament-quality, 18-hole golf course, designed by Matt Dye, a skeet and trap (clay targets) shooting range, tennis courts, a heated swimming pool and spa looking out over the Pacific Ocean, 4km of secluded white sand beach and the hillside vineyards of Karikari Estate Vineyard and Winery.
Carrington also offers fine dining and lounge facilities, a library, billiard room, a guest lodge and pro shop. The sweeping ocean vistas provide a spectacular back drop to the Estate's activities.
Carrington is set in the middle of the Carrington Farms Estate, a 3000-acre ecologically planned property of secluded virgin beaches and restored natural wetlands.
Luxury on course Villa and Lodge style accommodation are available.
